Goregaon woman finds her obscene pictures online

MUMBAI: There's been no end to the ordeal of aGoregaon woman whose employer had drugged her and taken obscene photographs two years ago. The pictures have now found their way online. The woman recently approached the cyber crime cell, who discovered that it was her former brother-in-law's handiwork: he created a fake profile in her name on a social networking site and uploaded the pictures. The Goregaon police have registered an FIR and are looking for him.

The woman, aged 31, had tied the knot with a Pune resident in 2003. After facing marital issues and being thrown out of the house by her husband in 2009, she moved to her parents' place in Thane's Kishan Nagar. "In 2011, the couple's relatives brokered a settlement between them. Her husband came to Thane and took her back to his house in Pune. But eight months later, the victim once again faced trouble on the marital front and returned to her parents' place," said senior inspector Arun Jadhav of the Goregaon police.

The woman had taken up a job at the office of an accountant, Sunil Gupta. On one occasion, he allegedly offered her a drink that was spiked and shot obscene photographs. "When the woman visited Pune the next time, her husband confronted her with the pictures. He called her parents over. The woman was shocked. On learning that Gupta had shot the pictures, she lodged a complaint against him with theThane police and got him arrested. Gupta had given the pictures to her husband," Jadhav said.

After obtaining a divorce in 2012, the woman remarried and moved to Goregaon. A year later, in August 2013, she was told by an acquaintance that the photographs were on a social networking site. The profile page was in her name. She approached the cyber crime cell, who found the profile to be fake. "On probing further, the police learnt that her former husband's brother had uploaded the pictures online out of spite. The 40-year-old accused was furious at her for maligning his family name and was seeking revenge," said Jadhav.
