The Allahabad Congress on Tuesday passed a resolution demanding that Priyanka Gandhi should contest polls from Phulpur, which was once the constituency of former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. The Allahabad Congress has forwarded the resolution to the party President Sonia Gandhi. 'Indira lao desh bachao (bring Indira and save the country)' and 'Bring Sonia, save Congress' slogans have been common in a party which is hinging on Gandhi charisma. However, sources in the Congress have said that the party wants to use its last trump card closer to the 2014 Lok Sabha elections and surprise its opponents. The demand for Priyanka is not just sycophancy but also the real politics as she could be a strong match to the BJP prime ministerial candidate and Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi.
